Special Events

The Little White School Museum hosts several family-friendly events throughout the year.

Listed below are just some of our special events. These are our most popular programs, so be on the lookout for more information about them. You won’t want to miss out!

History Tours

In a partnership with with the Oswegoland Heritage Association, the History Tours use local landmarks and establishments to tell fascinating stories and histories. Some past examples of tour topics include: Downtown Barns, Local Businesses, and Historic Homes. These hour-long tours are sometimes offered as guided-walks and others use a bus provided by the Oswegoland Park District.  Check the Upcoming Programs tab for the next tour date and time!

Oswego Cemetery Walk

Experience community history through the stories of those who have called the area home during the annual Oswego Cemetery Walk. Participants will be guided through the Oswego Township Cemetery to visit with the “ghosts” of early Oswego residents and pioneers.  Presented in partnership with the Oswegoland Heritage Association. Can’t wait until October? Hear some of the ghost stories anytime here!

Remembering Our Veterans

Discover the history of Oswego’s fighting men and women through an extensive display of rarely seen military artifacts selected from the museum’s permanent collection, including items used during the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

PrairieFest Quilt Show

Every year the Quilters Dozen Quilt Group and the Oswegoland Park District team up to present the PrairieFest Quilt Show at the Little White School Museum. During the show, contemporary and antique quilts will be on display. There is also an annual quilt raffle where one person gets to take home a fabulous homemade quilt!

Oswego Christmas Walk

While enjoying the annual downtown festivities, make your way to the museum for holiday music brought to you by area Junior High choirs. Warm up in the historic Roger Matile Room and stroll through the award-winning museum gallery to complete your visit to this beloved community event.
